The Vigil are seemingly in shambles following the shock reveal in the previous issue, and they have never been in more danger. Separated, they are potential prey for Hep, who is ready to make his moves. Hep may have over-played his hand, however, as The Vigil still have Castle on their side. The team’s only hope may lie in them staying a step ahead of their enemy in this dangerous game they are playing.

Ram V has really been building something great in this series, and I’m glad to see that we will be seeing more of this world he has constructed. While the end result isn’t entirely surprising, as this issue plays out like many great third act twists in your favorite movies, the methodology behind it is very satisfying. The build-up to this fantastic twist is plays very hard into the ways that Castle has been built up through out the series, finally giving him a real moment to shine. The team finally has a chance to truly come together in a truly satisfying conclusion that plays on each of their strengths and the fantastic relationship building that has been featured in this series.

Pramanik delivers some fantastic art in this issue, with some great power effects delivered for most of the characters. The character designs in this series are one of it’s strong points, and the moment where Castle smiles is as horrifying as it should be. Mr. Wall’s final few panels are some of my favorite in the issue, as Pramanik delivers a truly epic show of power that showcases Arclight’s ability to an extent we haven’t seen yet.

The team behind this comic should be extremely proud of what they’ve created. The tie-ins to other DC properties are great, but this comic would stand just as well on it’s own. I’m glad that we will continue to see more adventures with this team, and I’m onboard with whatever Ram V decides to do with it next.
