ComicsOnline Exclusive: XBox Australia Mass Effect 3 Preview Event

HUGE thank you to the amazing (and incredibly lucky) Kerrie for providing this for us! — Karissa & ComicsOnline

by Kerrie Hui, Guest Reporter

I will admit it: I was late into the Mass Effect craze, and by late I mean so late that by the time I had won tickets for the Mass Effect 3 Sydney Preview and Media Event, I was only just removing the shrink wrap for ME1.  It does however provide me a fantastic opportunity to tell you that by playing both 1 and 2 and jumping straight into 3, the differences between the three are fairly noticeable – they just keep getting better and better.

NYCC2011: Archie Comics: Sonic and Megaman Panel

Ian Flynn (writer), Patrick “Spaz” Spaziente (artist), Paul Kaminski (editor), and Mike Pellerito (Archie President) of Sonic the Hedgehog and Megaman comics sat down with ComicsOnline at NYCC 2011, submerging us into the recent and upcoming comics, graphic novels, and collections. There are many awesome things in store for new and old fans, so keep reading after the jump!

Megaman was spoken about briefly, mainly recapping and explaining recent comics. They went over the third story arc: Megaman 2 based with Ben Bates as the artist. They decided to extend the battle scenes due to fans saying that the first battles with the masters were over too quickly – frankly, I agree. There is also a possibility that they will be making comics out of the X games since Ian has a plan for every Megaman game. Especially Megaman Soccer.

Comic Review: IDW’s Crawl To Me

by Karl Madsen, Media Editor, Horror

In the comic world, much like all other forms of entertainment, we are constantly being offered the next big thing, event, story, character, or genre. Recently we were offered the next big horror series from Alan Robert, creator of Wire Hangers, and lead singer for New York punk band Life of Agony, as well as creator, writer, illustrator, and letterer of his newest scare fest. This new series is from San Diego’s own IDW Publishing and is a new horror offering titled Crawl to Me.

Comic News: FOUR Teaser

by Matt Sernaker, Senior Editor

Guess who’s coming for dinner?

After less than a YEAR of being “dead”, it seems that the Human Torch is returning to the Fantastic Four. While no one will truly be surprised by this (since we never saw a body), it just feels rushed. The current development and story arc for the former Fantastic Four (now FF) has been fun and exciting, but bringing Johnny back so soon doesn’t allow for much creativity to flourish.

SDCC2011: Missing Lost Clip Revealed At Comic-Con

Despite the bold steps that Lost took in redefining what was possible in primetime storytelling, there were always some doubts as to whether the events on the island were playing out according to the master plans of the writers, or whether they were just making stuff up as they go along.

Finally, over a year after the end of the series, Lost creators Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse revealed a lost Lost clip from the first season of the series during a panel at Comic-Con on Friday. Read More to see just how far back the plot goes…

Comicpalooza Houston 2011: An Outsider’s Perspective

Written by guest writer, G. Posted by Jenn, Media Editor

Caveat 1:  I do not read comics– not even in the Sunday paper, which I do not read at all because I am not a subscriber and I don’t enjoy the trip to the corner store.  I bought and read comics in my youth.  Bought and read and boarded and mylared and boxed.  Retirement.  TMNT and Miller and Watchmen 1-12.  The End.

Caveat 2:  I have never been to San Diego.  The closest I ever got to anything like Comicpalooza Houston 2011 was Comic Dealer Boothfest 1983 at the St. Clair County Fairgrounds in Belleville, Illinois (disclaimer:  that was probably not the real name).   I think that’s where I bought my copy of “Spectacular Spider-Man” #17, rationalizing with my pre-adolescent reasoning skills that I had just scored an incredible deal.  Maybe one of you can set me straight.
