Blu-ray Review: Ferris Bueller’s Day Off

There are three kinds of films, the first kind which are never spoken about again under the penalty of death by beheading, the second which are hailed as works of pure genius and win many awards for its various outstanding aspects and qualities, and then there is the third kind… the ones that may never have had the oscar quality cast nor writing. The ones that don't have million dollar budgets or over the top special effect sequences. But yet there is a special certain quality to this third kind of film… one that would define your childhood and gives you a warm fuzzy, feel good feeling every time you watch it. These are the cult classics, the movies that stick with us through the years and it's harder to get even more of a cult classic than the movie which started Matthew Brodrick's career (before Godzilla ate it before going off to hunt down the Cloverfield monster for moving in on its turf) Ferris Bueller's Day Off, which is now available on Blu-ray in High Definition!

Brodrick plays the fast talking, always thinking and one step ahead of everyone else teenager Ferris Bueller who decides its time the world owes him a break so he devises an elaborate plan to take the day off while dragging his friends, his bestest buddy who is afraid of the world Cameron and his girlfriend Sloane into Ferris's grand adventures.

While Ferris has his day of fun and games, there are those who are out to stop him cold. Ferris's stuck up sister Jeanie is determined to finally show the world how much of a cheat Ferris really is while principal of the school, Ed Rooney figures something is up and wants Ferris expelled. And so begins a chase to catch Ferris up in all his lies but every time they think they have outsmarted him, Ferris once again proves to be the teenager we all wish we were by being completely one step ahead and incredibly resourceful to get his way. Granted the movie is in no way realistic but thats what makes it so fun to watch.

Overall

Wrapped up with great supporting cast members Ben Stein as one of the teachers in Ferris's school and Charlie Sheen as a "bad rebel boy" in the police station, everything just adds up to make this one of the most enjoyable and memorable movies you will ever see. They did a great job converting this movie to Blu-ray and this is a must have for your personal movie collection. By the end, you too will be out rushing to put up signs to help "Save Ferris"!

ComicsOnline gives Ferris Bueller's Day Off 5 out of 5 cult classic films.
